Restricted and Private Records
Restricted and Private Records explains which case details do not appear in public Maryland Judiciary Case Search. Some records are hidden because public access is limited by law.

In restricted records, users may not see:
- Adoption cases
- Juvenile cases
- Some guardianship matters
- Emergency mental health cases
- Unserved warrants
- Unserved protective orders
- Certain personal information
These limits apply to both case types and private details inside a record.
To understand this better, remember:
- Not every court record is public
- Some case types are excluded from public search
- Some names and identifiers are not shown
- Public access depends on the type of case and the law
This means a case may exist, but still not appear in Case Search.
Important: Case Search only shows public information that is allowed to appear. Private or protected records cannot be opened through a regular public search.
